Sharks v Canucks

Tonight @ 7:30pm
Back home, where the Tank is
98.5 KFox and CSNCA have your local coverage

The Sharks greeted 2011 with a 1-0 birthday victory for Seto at the Staples center. While it might not have been the trouncing Sharks fans were looking for after the week prior, it was, nevertheless, a satisfying start to the new year. Now the Canucks come rolling in, hot as ever, and looking to hand the Sharks another loss to go with the 6-1 version they gave them last November.

Let's make sure that doesn't happen.

We're down JoePa and Mitchell, but this team's finally starting to come together. Maybe it won't have a 20 game win streak, but it could. Wouldn't tonight be a great time for that streak to start? Ride the waves of the LA victory straight through the night and hand a solid lump of "suck it" coal to the Canucks? I think so.

So let's keep this new year trend going boys, and show those Canucks how we do it here in SJ.

Go Sharks.

Gameday! Sharks v Blackhawks

Sharks v Hawks

And now for something completely different.

Run, Run Sharkies

Out of the hockey teams, you know you're the one divine
Run, run Sharkies, The DedThings ain't too far behind

Run, run Sharkies, Stanley's got to make it to town
Lord Stanley, make 'em hurry, tell 'em they can take the Western Conference down
Run, run Sharkies,  flyinging like a puck on net bound

Said Lord Stanley to Patty, “ Patty, What have you been longing for?”
“A chance to drink from Stanley and a Cup banner above my door”
And away went the Sharkies, flying like a puck on net bound

Run, run Sharkies, Stanley's got to make it to town
Lord Stanley, make 'em hurry, tell 'em they can take the Western Conference down
Run, run Sharkies, flying like a puck on net bound

Sharks v Minnesota Wild

Tonight @5pm
CSNCA and 98.5 KFOXing it

Well, if "play better" doesn't sum it up, I don't know what does. Tuesday's game was enjoyable because I was able to watch it with 80 some totally nuts Sharks fans who knew all the same inside jokes I did and who nearly in unison all referred to Douglas Murray as an "Offensive Powerhouse" without any prompts. (other than Douglas Murray being an offensive powerhouse, of course) FTF's Night at the Tank was a total success and an amazing good time, even if the game decided to puke on itself violently during the 3rd. Whatever it had between the 2nd and 3rd it had too much, that's for sure.

I feel worst for Nemo, who, after playing a strong 2 periods of hockey seemingly said "eff this noise" and checked out, realizing the team in front of him either didn't or couldn't find the will to care and win. Sure, they had some chances, and too many PINGS, but it was looking bad out there all night. On the plus side, our D looked decent. On the minus side, our offense looked like my two cats had given them pointers. (BE TOTALLY NONSENSICAL AND RUN AROUND ldjkjdaskfjasklfjkfjaskflalalalalalala)

Without Nemo's effort in the first 2 periods, it may well have been 16-0*

Mina tried to get the globetrotting song going, but I think globetrotting actually requires some coordination between team members and that was sorely lacking.

That second goal was so soft it probably melted like butter when it eventually hit the back of the net. We were all pretty sure anyone of the 17,562 people in attendance could have stopped that puck.

I'm not sure the third wen in of Heater's skate, but either way, you kinda knew that was that.

When the team comes out and expresses unanimous embarrassment, you know it was a bad night.

Let's not do that again. FTF Night yes, bad games, no!

*That may be a slight exaggeration.

Gameday! Sharks v Kings on FTF NIGHT BABY!

Sharks v Kings

Tonight @ 7:30pm!

Jamie, Drew, Randy, and Dan too. CSNCA and KFOX

Who's going to FTF Night? Are you going to FTF Night? The SHARKS are going to FTF Night. The Kings are going to FTF Night *meh* The CouchTarts are going to FTF night! AMGZ like 17, 562 people will be going to FTF Night! While neither of us have had much of a chance to actively post on FTF this season, we're still going.  Hopefully we'll see you there!

Onto the game.

You know what would be great? If it were like the last game against the Kings. Well played, fast, awesome, gring'um'up and spit'um out hockey that saw teh Sharks come out victorious at the end of the night but like 5 goals. That would be fantastic.

It was a helluva test, that first game against the then Pacific leading Kings. Could the Sharks show that they were still one of the best in the West? Could they beat a hot team? Could they win in the midst of an early season which had seen wins and losses swap faster than people swap back to their own wives on Wife Swap? The answer, of course, was yes. Few may have believed it possible at the time, but we here at CouchTarts are eternal hockey optimists, (ok, two of us are. Well, I guess at this point "we" includes me so, yes, we're all optimists here), and we saw the win as not only possible, but indeed, probable. And so it goes tonight. That Sharks CAN win, and there's not reason they shouldn't. Hockey is a sport of chance though, so one must always be prepared for the unexpected. I think it's safe to say that if you're partying with the FTF Crowd tonight, you can expect a good time regardless.

Post Game Recap: Sharks v Yotes

Written by Gray on .

Sharks v Coyotes

Whoooooooooooooooooooooo that game was awesome! hahahahahaha!

For starters, how nice is it to win 4 in a row again? Seriously awesome! We all knew this team COULD get to this point, but it took a bit longer to reach it than many had expected. This is why I tell people not to freak out right away. You have to wait and give the season some time to develop and the team time to gel. Yeah, I know it's mostly the same team as last year, but things change. You have to let the people who make up that team adjust to those changes.

I'd like to also point out that there is a reason, even when he's having a bad stretch, that I never thrown Patty under the bus. That man can play. Don't you ever doubt it. I am a staunch Marleau supporter, and there is a good reason behind my constant backing of him and his fabulous eyebrows. (did you know that you can, in fact, hide Vlasic in them? It's true.)

How many times are we going to see Heater pass to Joe? That was a sweet play. Beautiful goal. They should do that more often.

LaBarbera is insanely good at his job. This is reassuring if your a 'Yotes fan and ridiculously annoying for everyone else. He had a great game last night despite getting the loss.

The penalties last night were weird. Three delay of games? All on the same team? There was stuff being called that really didn't need to be and then some pretty obvious stuff on both sides that went uncalled. Sometimes I really don't understand the refs. In this case it worked out to the Sharks benefit, but it was weird.

Nemo looked solid in net, despite a pretty slow first in terms of SOG. Again, I've been telling people what he needed was time to adjust to not having Chicago's D in front of him, and there he is, starting to play a lot better because he's adjusting. You guys should really listen to me more often.

The power play, after going 0-4 started clicking. What a beautiful sight that was.

Teeth doesn't even have to score to own all y'all. Just saying.
