And Now For Something Completely Roosevelt

Written by Gray on .

I didn't know what to write about, but @mymclife needed some paper topics and someone suggested sports Teddy Roosevelt participated in. *hint*He invented them all. All of them. As all we scholars of American History know, he was most fond of fighting bears. So I drew a picture of that. Enjoy!

Gameday! Sharks v Avs, Deja Vu All Over Again

Sharks v Avs

Tonight @ 7:30PM

Hide 'yo kids and hide 'yo wife cause the Sharks are in the Tank for this one!

Sharks Hockey is back where it belongs for longer than a two night stay this time. The long annual February road trip has come and gone, and the time has come for the Sharks to reap the fruits of their labors at home. And it's some sweet ass looking fruit, let me tell you. 6 wins, 15 in the last 18, Kent Huskins is an offensive force, Wellwood is scoring, Seto is scoring, Eager is scoring, Maven is busting up 'yo ass each night, Clowe is like LOOK AT MY A AND UNDERSTAND WHY I HAVE IT! The whole team is grooving right now.

The Sharks made all their roster moves early, and, with the noticeable exception of not grabbing another backup "just in case", they are set to ride out the rest of the season, and into the post season. Hopefully for a long damn time. Colorado, meanwhile, is doing less than well, losing 13 of their last 14 in streak that has to have AVs fans ripping their hair out. Forgive me for wanting to extend that losing streak for one more night. Nothing against your hair, just want those 2 points. That's all. It's nothing personal.

Mina and I will get to warm our long missed seats again. CouchTarts in da house!

Gameday! Sharks v Flames

Sharks v Flames

Tonight @ 6pm!
Grab a blanket, a mug of something warm, and watch the game as the rain, and maybe snow(?) pours down outside

Raise your hand if you're still recovering from Wednesday night's AMAZING ending! 4 seconds left in OT and Patty scores the game winner. Man. What an ending. I was in full nail biter mode and I was in my car driving home listening to the game. I swore at MAF when he made that break away save on Patty. I knew Teeth missing that empty net would bite us in the ass, and all I could do was drive and scream at my radio. What. An. Ending. Thing is, because of how they have played the past few seasons (and yes, even this one), I no longer feel like doom is in inevitable outcome. Now I freak out because I KNOW these Sharks can win the game. Can, and did.

What a ride.

The roller coaster doesn't stop in Pittsburgh though. It rolled right on into Calgary where tonight, the Sharks face one of the most annoying teams ever to be conceived of int he Western Conference. It doesn't seem to matter if the Flames are doing well or not, (and right now they are doing pretty well), they always provide a challenge for the Sharks. I would love to see the Sharks come out tonight and bowl the Flames over, thus mainting their winning streak AND their lead in the Pacific. Didn't think they could make the climb? Well they did and the Sharks aren't done yet.

Gameday! Sharks v Pens

Sharks v Pens

Today @ 4:30pm

Did you catch any of the game last night? WOW. As mymclife said, the Sharks and Wings were playing like it was Game 7. Unbelievable. There was no quit in either team. It was quite the game from beginning to end. The last 2 minutes were as intense as anything. Nail biting. Nemo made some absolutely brilliant saves, Joe scores #300, Clowe was like WAPOWGOAL* and Seto scored again, giving him 10 goals in his last 13 and 5 in his last 2. Suck on that sack of lemons.

The Sharks ride into Pittsburgh on that wave tonight. Back to backs are always tough, although in this case I reminded myself that Detroit to Pittsburgh isn't even as bad as a drive from here to LA. Flight won't be that bad either. The joys of travelling back East.

It's going to be a helluva game tonight folks, be sure to tune in.

Umbrella Trick Image

In honor of Devin Setoguchi's first NHL hat trick, we here at CouchTarts are proud to bring you the above design. We're still waiting for it to show up in our wondrous Zazzle store, but it should be up and available for purchase tomorrow. (Monday) Be sure to pick one up and wear to your next game. It looks good, and it will look good on you.

Congratulations Seto!

(The story behind the shirt)
As any hockey fan will tell you, the traditional celebratory act when a player scores three in a row in one game is to throw ones hat onto the ice. Now, maybe it was the weather, it was raining after all, or maybe this person had a cold head and didn't want to lose their hat. Maybe they didn't have a hat. Maybe in a fit of explosive jubilation they ripped whatever object was in the hands of the person next to then and threw it to the ice. Whatever the reason, in between the sea of hats that came raining down Saturday, was one lone, closed, umbrella. No one really knows what it was doing there, how it got there (other than by the force of someone's arm), or why anyone would throw their umbrella onto the ice when it's pouring outside. But there it was, and it was noticed. Thus, the "umbrella trick" was born.

Gameday! Sharks v Avs! Post Trade Edition

Sharks v Avs

Tonight at 7pm!
Tank Time!

The Sharks take the ice with newly acquired Ian White, and without recently departed Derek Joslin. No time to sit back and relax and take in the sights, Ian White is hitting the ice tonight for his very first game as a Shark. He's sporting number 9, which is even more of a signal that the days of Milan are gone than his trade to Ottawa. Braun has been called back up as well. Look for more Inception soundtrack references with his name the more time he spends with in then NHL.

While they may be facing the slumping Avs, the Sharks cannot sit back tonight. Colorado is going to be feeding off the energy of their newly acquired players, and the points are amazingly important tonight. If the Sharks win, they can pass Nash and Phi in the standings. Can't sit back, can't slow down, just gotta fight.

Do it.

Go Sharks.
