Gameday! Sharks v Kings round 1 game 4, FIGHT!

Sharks v Kings

Tonight @ 7:30pm

History will be made

Have you seen this?

I don't even know what to say.

The utter elation and excitement felt at the end of that game was unreal. It's only a 2-1 series lead, we all know that, but to watch a team that has been ragged on for being lacking grit and heart, and being all kinds of other cliches in hockey and sports come back from being down 4-0 in a playoff game is simply one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. These are not the Sharks of 2006 who got rolled by the Oilers, or of 2007 who seemed to give out after leading the Wings. These are not the Sharks of 2008 in Dallas after barely scraping by against Calgary or 2009 failing miserably against the Ducks. No, These are the Sharks that stood up last year and made it to the WCF. These are the Sharks that were in 10th place in January and rallied back. These are the Sharks that we always knew they could be.

These are the Sharks that will put to the test once again tonight in game 4. Some say LA has more to prove after game 3, I say the Sharks do.  Live up to the promise of that performance. Come out and show the world that you KNOW what good hockey is and you can play it. Give a clinic on why you're the best, and show everyone that this is the year history will be made.

Go Sharks!

Tonight @ 7:30pm
Hold on to your butts!
Series tied 1-1

Game 5 tickets go on sale this morning at 10am, for those of you who are so inclined.

Why so serious, Sharks Fans?
Why so serious? We're clearly not.

Sure, the last game was a dud, but it was the second game in a series of games that could go anywhere from five to seven. Unless you're looking for a sweep, it's highly likely that your team will lose one or two of those games. This is the playoffs; it's not supposed to be easy. We all know what the Sharks can do when they come to play. On Saturday it was clear that they did not. I don't expect a repeat of such a dismal performance from a team that roared back from 10th to secure itself a spot in the playoffs.

Ignore the reverse band-wagoners, those people who show up only when the Sharks lose. They're not real fans, and they don't know what they're talking about. They're trolls, plain and simple. Don't feed them. They bite.

Gameday! Sharks v Kings round 1, game 2

Sharks v Kings game 2, Round 1
7pm start tonight. Set your swatches.
Sharks lead series 1-0

It's time for game 2 everybody! A game in which teams can either solidify a series lead, or tie it up and make things more interesting for everyone involved. (In this case, I say too interesting, but that's just me.) Stoll is out, White is too, meaning that either Husky Huskins or Inception (Braun) will be filling in in his place.

With the start of the playoffs, the annual tradition of growing a playoff beard has begun. The internet has seemed to pick up on the fact that women can't go these, and is starting to show some faint hints of concern for the feelings of their female brethren. Even Puck Daddy covered this topic, which is to say it's now a popular one. Let me put your concerns to rest on this subject once and for all, dear readers.

I do not gave a rat's ass about the fact that I cannot grow a playoff beard.

I don't. It's never something that's been an option to me and I have never felt that the fact that I cannot grow facial hair in excess makes me left out of a grand tradition. The idea of having a face warmer attached all the time, during the summer months no less, is not appealing. I enjoy seeing guys get into it an grow beards, but to be honest, it's pretty much the only way they can show support for their team (save for chest paint and a large does of personal pride). We ladies have far more options, and this, I think, gives us an advantage.

Many women chose to go a similar route to beards, not shaving their legs, arm pits or nethers for the duration of their team's playoff run but that's not for me. If you feel like the only way you can support your team is to be able to hear the call of the wild coming from your legs, then fine, but keep those suckers covered up while you do that. Same for your arms. Ladies, it may be "natural" but it doesn't look good. If you want to grow it out, keep those pits covered up. You may feel it's a worthy sacrifice, but no one asked me to suffer along with you.

I prefer to take a different approach entirely. I'm a fan of obnoxiously sized earrings so, I have a small, but growing collection of teal ones that can be worn to playoff games. My favorite pair consists of a teal painted shell and  black sharks tooth hanging down on top of it. I have large, glittery teal rectangles, and an assortment of other teal options all of which are sensible enough to wear to work while still screaming "SPORTSFAN" loudly at anyone who will listen.

I also support getting your nails done (or doing them yourself) in your team's colors. Mine are currently the closet shade to Sharks teak I could find (the Target by me was SOLD OUT of teal nail polish). You can also dye your hair teal, or put in teal extensions, ribbons, or a lovely teal wig. Teal eye shadow is a great options for those ladies who can wear it, as are Sharks themed face paintings. (Admit it, girls can get away with that way easier than guys. Unless you're this guy, it's just not going to fly with the dudes at the bar.)

Team jerseys, t shirts, tank tops, hoodies, all also complement the female sports fan very easily, as do goofy hats for those who have the confidence to been seen in them. (I have this one)

So you see, I don't care if I can't grow a beard. I have all sorts of options available to me, and because I'm a chick, I can dress like atotal dork to go to a game, and still look cool. Let's see your beard do that.

Round 1 starts TONIGHT! @ 7pm!

Here we are, face to face, a couple of California teams…

The playoffs are here, ladies and gentlemen. Round one, a round many thought during the regular season that the Sharks wouldn’t see is upon us. It feels like just yesterday it was October, and the season was off to a rough beginning.  A few hours ago, it was December, and the Sharks season was very uncertain. Today is the start of round 1 and the Sharks are entering it as the number two seed in the West and as the Pacific Division Champs for the 4th straight season in a row.

Tonight they face the Kings in the first game of a best of 7 series. Riding on the line is advancement to future rounds and the right to battle for ultimate glory.  The Sharks of the first half could not handle this matchup well, but these are not the first half Sharks. These are the Sharks that roared back to move from 10th to 2nd. These are the Sharks that showed everyone why they’re perennially one of the best teams in the West. Expect a battle, it’s the playoffs after all, but expect the Sharks to bring it. This isn’t October, and it’s not the Start of the regular season. This is the start of the second season, the playoff season, and you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Gameday! Sharks v Yotes, Take 5

Written by Gray on .

Sharks v Yotes

Tonight @ 7pm

Semi early start!

The goal tonight, I think, is two fold. One, make up for that horrible performance against the Ducks on Wednesday. It was so bad I didn't even know Thornton didn't play in the 3rd. Seriously. Yeah. Two, keep and eye on the 2nd place prize. It's not a necessity but it's within reach, so why not go for it?

The Sharks would do well to keep that miserable game in mind because, were the playoffs to start today, they'd be facing the Ducks. They could very well be our opponent in the first round, and we don't want a repeat of 09.

Stick taps to JoePa for getting a nod for the Masterton. It's really great to see a player like JoePa getting some recognition for all the stuff he does both on and off the ice.

Gameday! Sharks v Ducks

Sharks v Ducks

Tonight @ 7pm
Early start!

After the 6-1 drubbing of the Kings, where do you go? You don't sit back, that's for sure. There's a chance the Sharks could meet the Ducks in round 1. We all know how that went the last time that happened. The Ducks will probably be looking for some retribution for Murray's hit on Visnovsky, which was the subject of some pretty heated debated. (mostly by Ducks fans who are probably not so used to seeing one their guys checked hard. Murray isn't a dirty player, guys. He's just BIG)

This is the last regular season match up for these two. Should be explosive as always. The Ducks need wins to secure and playoff spot. The Sharks need wins because Ws are good and staying one step ahead of Detroit is better.

Go Sharks!

Gameday! Sharks v Kings Take the Division

Written by Gray on .

Sharks v Kings

Tonight at 7pm
EARLY START!

Win the game (in regulation) and win the Division. Win in any other way, and secure a playoff berth for the Kings and keep the divisional crown up for grabs. Cliche aside, it's a big game. 2 points in regulation tonight and the Sharks can stay in the race with the Wings, take the division, and set their sights firmly on the remaining games in the season. (remember, divisional opponents are potential first round opponents)

Tonight's the night Sharks. Let's close it out.

Go Sharks!
