Hold onto your butts, folks. It's FINALLY here! The first home game of the year! Holy crap!
We've had to wait one long, excruciating week following the first two games of the season to see more. It's been a desert of news. We've had to turn to other teams playing other games to get our hockey fix. But that dark time ends tonight. Tonight officially marks the start of the long 80 game slog which will dance across our television from now until April, with what one hopes is a 16 win extension through June.
The Thrashers got into town late last night, but are riding high on a shootout win. The Sharks have a week off to recover from their European trip, which saw them take 3 of 4 points from the BlueJackets. Rust could be a factor for the Sharks, tired legs for the Thrashers.
Look for the Sharks to potentially come out a little slow, but then kick it into overdrive in front of their hometown fans. Just need to shake ff the last of that week long wait.
Niemi will be in net for the Sharks. He'll be facing several of his old teammates and looking to impress.
It's going to be LOUD!
