Post Game PING!
Last night's game wasn't bad. The Sharks hit like 5 freaking posts and Kipur made this ridiculous save to deny Nichol at one point. Many, many many close chances for the Sharks, but they just couldn't tie it.
There was a fight like 8 seconds in. 8 seconds. Who says these two teams don't have a bit of a rivalry?
There were a few fights, actually, though none were overly impressive. The good thing is the Sharks weren't letting the Flames throw them all over the ice, as they have in past years.
Iginla wanted Douglas Murray. Douglas Murray welcome the challenge. Both sides had their fair share of checking players who, like Murray, are brick walls on skates.
Ok, Bouwmeester pushed Nabby's net off the moorings and nooooooooo one said anything. No call, though it was quite obviously. I think he also shoved McGinn into Kipur. Ridiculous.
A few times we did wonder what games the refs were watching because it didn't seem to be the game we were.
Shots on goal were fairly even. So were PINGS off posts.
Globetrotting was occasionally in effect, but not as bad as it was against the Blues.
The PP needed some work
Nice 5 on 3 kill. Maybe it was 4. I don't remember. At one point there were a lot of guys in the box.
We don't think they gave nearly enough time or recognition to Randy Hahn's 1000th game. They did, however, show clips of him from way back, and then his reaction shots. He and Drew were dying watching the clips.
Not sure what it was about last night but a bunch of people were wearing jerseys that weren't at all applicable to the game. The Flames fans and the one HNIC jersey guy were obviously aware of what game they were at. But not everyone was. A guy in front of us had on a Pens jersey. I later overheard him being razzed about it at intermission by some friends.
"Dude, who wears a Pens jersey to a Sharks/Flames game?!"
"I don't support EITHER the Sharks or the Flames. I like the Pens..."
"The Pens aren't here tonight, dude..."
We also saw a Bruins (non Thornton) jersey, an AVs jersey, a Wings jersey, and a lot of Leafs fans. No seriously. There was a decent sized group of them in front of us and we saw more walking around before/after the game.
We(Speaking only for Mina and I. Not sure where Afro falls here) are of the opinion that one need not visiually prove their fan status by wearing the jerseys of their chosen team is said team isn't involved in the game they are attending. We assume you're a fan until you prove otherwise. As someone on Twitter said, it's just like a concert. Don't wear a Metallica shirt to a Bon Jovi concert. You're at the show, obviously, you like music. (thanks for the support, Romeoc!) It's just not how we roll.
We're also against split home and away jerseys sown into one, or jerseys with "clever things" on the back. I'm all for hoodies with jerseys though. All for it.
